FEEL the WOOD knowledge

Wood is a material that reacts to the moisture in its environment. The dimensions of the boards change as moisture is absorbed and released. There are changes in length and width. The swelling and shrinkage behavior in length is negligible, while in width it varies depending on the type of wood and incision. When the moisture content of the wood decreases, the wood shrinks and joints appear in the floor. With a reduction in residual moisture of 3% and an average swelling and shrinkage of 0.26, there is a total change of 0.78%. With a board width of 137 mm, this corresponds to approximately 1 mm joints. These values are average values and can vary slightly depending on the type of wood, growth area and annual rings of the boards (edge or core area). The FEEL WOOD solid wood floorboards are delivered with a residual moisture content of 9% (+/-2%). At a room temperature of approx. 20°C and a relative humidity of 50 to 65%, this corresponds to the moisture content of the wood. With this moisture we guarantee a precise fit. If these values are adhered to, no significant joint formation is to be expected.
